Fiona McDonald, Managing Director of Tradeswomen Australia today called for all political parties, government agencies, and industry bodies to forge new positive approaches towards the engagement of women in trades to pro-actively facilitate and support women’s pathway into the male-dominated trades sector.

In line with the phenomenal work that Tradeswomen Australia have paved in the advocacy of young women into non-traditional roles, The Department of Education and Training’s Head Start program is fostering and mentoring young women who have dared to leap into these non-traditional jobs.

Managing Director of Tradeswomen Australia, Fiona McDonald said the reforms, outlined by the Prime Minister Scott Morrison today at the National Press Club, could lead to generational change and end the national embedded discrimination against women in the trades area which starts at the career advice and apprenticeship level.
